This is a gorgeous handwoven huipil from the Mixtec of Guerrero, Mexico. Until recently I had never seen huipiles of this tradition. Huipiles from this region are difficult to come by. This was purchased from the artisan at asking price. A gorgeous handwoven huipil from the Amuzgo people of Guerrero. It is made of hand spun cotton in it’s natural colors. Truly masterful weaving and a very special garment. The brown cotton is called coyuchi and the more green cotton is algodon verde. Both are the natural colors of the huipiles. It is native to southern Mexico and it is hand spun. This huipil is a masterpiece of an accomplished artisan. Vintage Guatemalan Coat Hand Made 1970s Medium-Large Nice Detail
Very nice condition. There is a small hole midway on the right sleeve. Seams are all good. The lining is good. There are 4 pockets. There is no size label obviously but I am an X-large, I can put it on but it is tight & doesn’t close.
